JOCELYN GARNER is a native of Chicago. She began her dance training with Karla Harris at the Northbrook Dance Centre
and continued dancing there through high school; this is also where she began her Cecchetti training. She graduated from Colorado State University
with a BA in performing arts, concentration in dance, and from Laban/City University, London with a M.A. in Dance Studies. She also earned
her Ph.D. at Laban, which concerns the perceived influence of the Feldenkrais Method on motor learning and control, and creativity in dance.
She is a guild certified teacher of the Feldenkrais Method and holds a Body Arts Science International Pilates teacher certification. She
completed her Certificate in Dance Education in the Cecchetti Method of classical ballet through the Imperial Society of Teachers of
Dance and holds a Teacher's Elementary certification with the Cecchetti Council of America. Throughout her studies, she has performed
and taught dance around the world. Prior to her return to the States, she was a full-time member of the Faculty of Education at the Royal
Academy of Dance. Currently, she is on faculty at the Joffrey Ballet Academy, is an Adjunct Professor in the dance department at
Northwestern University, is a distance learning tutor for the Royal Academy of Dance, and a Pilates instructor. She is very happy to be back
in Chicago and to be involved with the Midwest Committee of the CCA.
